Antique Cowboy with tarnished six-shooter, rusty spurs, and swaybacked steed. Garage kept, housebroken, and mannerful. Grammatically textuous, with traces of chivalry and dance-floor etiquette. If you read the blog...the least you can do is say hello and leave a smile or sumthin'.

HAPPY?
With the spring thaw just around the corner, I've been quite busy...what with fence mendin', roof patchin', and various other tasks associated with cowboyin' in general. I like this time of year...gives an old cuss like me time to think.
The other evening, as me and Dog were having our end-of-the-day discussion, a question kept rattling around inside my head, refusing to lie still. What three things in this life make you truly happy? That question is worthy of some serious thought, folks.
Now I'm not talking about things which bring you peace and contentment...like porch sittin' or watermelon eatin'...or things which provide temporary enjoyment...like gazin' at the latest crop of cowgirls at the county rodeo.
Think about it...name three things which bring you true joy.
At the top of the list for most of us is sharing time with those we hold dear and special. After that, the other two blanks are hard to fill.
For antique cowboys and big black dogs, we figure acts of charity can do wonders for your outlook on life...not dollars...acts...and showing a little compassion, anonymously, makes it even better.
And then there's the difficult concept of allowing oneself to be loved...difficult because one must first come to terms with one's own self worth...and that's deep stuff where saddle tramps and canines are concerned.
Still, to me, it would appear that there's a single common denominator in all our quests for real happiness...and that is the art of caring...but not for things...`cause things are incapable of caring back.
So tell me...what makes YOU happy?
